REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER COSTA RICA Effective Date: December 01, 2009
I. A 90 DAY VISITOR’S PERMIT IS GRANTED TO CITIZENS OF the following countries without REQUIRING A CONSULAR’S VISA, but A PASSPORT with NO LESS THAN 1 day of validity REMAINING AT THE TIME OF entry is REQUIRED.
(*) Their dependents receive similar consideration. (**) Includes England, Wales and Scotland. II. A 30 DAY VISITOR’S PERMIT without REQUIRING A CONSULAR’S VISA IS GRANTED TO CITIZENS OF the following countries HOLDING A PASSPORT with NO LESS THAN 3 MONTHS validity REMAINING AT THE TIME OF entry.

CITIZENS OF HONG KONGØ Holders of ‘Identity Certifications’ and Identity Documents from Hong Kong REQUIRE VISA AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER COSTA RICA expedited by the “General Direction of Immigration and Foreigners” (La Dirección General de Imigración y Extranjería). Ø Holders of British Passports as citizens of British National Overseas/BN and holders of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA TO ENTER COSTA RICA and are granted a 90 Day Permit.
