Born in 1953 in Gainesville Florida, Mike grew up in the rural North Central Florida area, between Gainesville and Jacksonville Florida on a cattle ranch and hay farm. Hard work and a honest life led him to graduate with honors from his local high school.  Graduated in 1977 with a Degree in Mechanized Agricultural from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Mike later moved to Costa Rica in 1979 to teach himself Spanish. for 6 months. After teaching English as a part-time job in Costa Rica he later worked as an Agricultural Engineer in irrigation and drainage for the United Fruit Company, producers of Chiquita brand bananas in Southern C.R. near the Panamanian border.  Later he became a teacher and Head of Department of Mechanized Agricultural Engineering for 10 years in Costa Rica at a British Government  founded Animal Science School. During this time at the British founded Animal Science School he went to England to received a 6 month certificate in teaching methods of natural resource subjects.  Three years later he returned to England for a 2 years Master Degree scholarship granted to him by the British Government.  After his return to C.R. Mike left his teaching job at the school to broker the export of ornamental plants to the U.S. for a short time.  Afterwards Mike took his friends and families suggestion that he start operating tours in Costa Rica since he did such a good job showing them around when they visited him in Costa Rica.  Vehicles that he imported for his tour business were in demand and popular with the local Costa Ricans so, in the low season of tourism, which was more pronounced in the first years of  C.R.'s tourism onset, he supplemented his income during the low seasons with importing 'family' and tour vehicles from the southern U.S. into C.R.   After a couple of years of seasonal tour business in C.R., around 1993 tourism became a year round business and with the family values of hard work and honest treatment of people instilled in him,  Mike found it to be a natural transition from being a college professor to the teaching of the natural qualities of Costa Rica in his tour operations.

Since 1991 Mike and his company have been operating unique personalized tours of Costa Rica to all the favorite sites and natural attractions and to others not yet discovered.
Happily married for over30 years to his Costa Rican wife, he is the proud father of 2 beautiful young girls, 15 and 16 yrs old.  With Mike you know you are dealing with a family man with honest family values who you can trust.
