Just ½ from San Jose we start a scenic 1 hour drive take through the cloud and rainforest of the Braulio Carrillo National park, then past farmland and towns for a total of 2½ hours from San Jose to the east coast. After driving past the Moin container port near Limon we stop for short while at the first beach near Limon before continuing on to Limon's center and port for a brief drive through. We then take the scenic "Coconut highway" through Coconut groves, with the waves and beaches of the Caribbean close by, to the southern Caribbean town and beaches of Cahuita and maybe the Cahuita Beach National Park with Puerto Vargas sector beaches that protects Costa Rica’s biggest coral reef as another option. Shaded walking paths on the edge of the beach make for an idyllic experience featured in US TV commercials of allergy medicine.
Later will have lunch and then visit the coastal town of Puerto Viejo and if time allows Punta Uva and Manzanillo beaches both within the lush greenery of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. On the way back (or on the way to Cahuita)  we can also visit the Sloth and Wildlife Rescue Center for an extra cost of $30/person entry.

You can spend some time (an hour or so) swimming in calm water, walk on a sandy beach, relax under the shade of almond and coconut trees at either the Cahuita, Puerto Vargas or Punta Uva beaches. Beach time can be increased if we omit some other stops or spend less time there. With us you can customize your time and stops to your preferences, leaving in mind that it is a 3½ hour drive back for which we need to start back no later than 4 pm, if not 3 pm with dark being at 6:00 pm, after which we try to avoid driving.

Dress comfortably for warm weather; bring a swimsuit, towel, sandals & sun screen.

We carry a full compliment of refreshments of bottled water, cold sodas, beer, chocolates and fruit on-board our vehicles for your convenience at no extra cost.  Plenty of restroom stops are made available. Costa Rica Tours as its Best.
